Children of Peace Uganda

Organic Route is excited to announce their support in helping rebuild the lives and communities affected by war in Central Africa. We will work alongside Children of Peace Uganda to support the psycho-social and vocational/educational programs they provide to 1,000 former child soldiers and sex trafficked victims in Northern Uganda. By supporting Children of Peace Uganda, Organic Route helps promote optimism for impoverished persons, heal brokenhearted individuals and aid the freedom of captives. Through our donations to Children of Peace Uganda, we directly support child and university sponsorships and Peace Clubs in central eastern Africa. Please find out more about Children of Peace Uganda here.

Organisation For Community Action

Started in 2001, Organization for Community Action (OCA), started working in three villages in Apala Sub-County, Uganda to start a day care for children below primary school-going age. OCA’s work suffered a setback in the same year when the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) intensified its attacks in the villages. All OCA activities stalled. However, in 2008, the association resumed its work and then received funding in 2009 from International Refugee Trust (IRT-UK) and the Commonwealth Foundation to support resettlement of the communities in Aloi Sub-County. In 2011, the organization changed its focus from relief and rehabilitation to sustainable development programs using an approach then called Participatory Learning and Action (PLA). The organisation is registered with NGO Board in Uganda as an indigenous organisation. We support OCA through village value-addition programs such as goat breeding. Please find out more about OCA here.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Organic Route has partnered with agricultural cooperatives that promote local community development. We work with cooperatives supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. These programs ensure quality production of staple crops to aid agrarian based economies thrive. This program also maintains a healthy supply of cassava for regions in Africa that depend on the crop to promote trade, provide ample food sources and to increase economic growth.
